Évora 2027 promotes a discussion on culture and science on Europe Day
On 9 May, Évora 2027, Évora's candidacy for European Capital of Culture, presents, from Colégio do Espírito Santo ( University of Évora), the meeting Imagined Europe. A conversation about Beauty, Humanity, Sustainability and Science. The event, which aims to celebrate Europe Day, counts on the participation of six Portuguese personalities, awarded with the "Pessoa Prize", some of which have strong links with the Alentejo: Cláudio Torres (archaeology), Elvira Fortunato (science / engineering), José Manuel Rodrigues (photography), Maria Manuel Mota (science / biomedicine), Miguel Bastos Araújo (science / biodiversity) and Tiago Rodrigues (theatre). The event, happening between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, will be broadcast live online from Évora 2027's Youtube channel and Facebook page.
Imagined Europe. A conversation about Beauty, Humanity, Sustainability and Science. takes place as part of the work that has been developed by the Évora 2027 mission team. The main goal of this debate, to be moderated by João Ferrão (geographer, researcher and former Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Cities), is contributing to a broad reflection on the new European design, in which Culture, together with technology and economy, plays an essential role.

Évora's candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2027 is held under the responsibility of the Executive Committee "Évora 2027", led by the Municipality of Évora. This Executive Committee also comprises the Alentejo Regional Agency for Touristic Promotion - ARPTA, the Alentejo Regional Development Coordination Commission, the Intermunicipal Community of Central Alentejo, the Regional Directorate of Culture of Alentejo, Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, Turismo do Alentejo - ERT and the University of Évora.
