The Évora 2027 Association, responsible for Évora_27 – European Capital of Culture initiative, announces the launch of two international calls for applications for Artistic Director and Executive Director positions.

António Costa da Silva and Bruno Fraga Braz have been appointed to the Finance Department and the Communication and Outreach Department of the organisation. Maria do Céu Ramos will preside over the board, which will be completed with the appointment of the Executive Director and the Artistic Director.

The two-day visit included working meetings with the Évora_27 Team and cultural association Do Imaginário, which will be the local project leader.

At its first General Assembly held on February 20 in Évora, the Évora 2027 Association, responsible for managing Évora_27 European Capital of Culture, approved the articles of association in yet another important step towards the initiative.

One year after the nomination of Évora_27 as European Capital of Culture, "Common Ground" is a concert played and sung by several voices; based on each artist's identity, genre and sound, it finds in music a common territory of closeness, amazement and discovery.

In a two-day meeting in the Latvian city, the Évora_27 and Liepāja 2027 teams worked together on different areas of the initiative - concepts, cultural and artistic programmes, communication and outreach, among other topics. The visit made it possible to strengthen mutual knowledge and discover what brings the two cities and their proposals for European Capital of Culture closer together

This morning, in Brussels, following the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, the Mayor of Évora, Carlos Pinto de Sá, made a presentation on Évora’s nomination as European Capital of Culture in 2027. During the meeting of the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council, Carlos Pinto de Sá presented the concept and proposal of Évora_27.

After 2027, Évora and Liepāja (Latvia) will pass the baton to a French city that will receive the title of European Capital of Culture in 2028. The selection process, similar to the one that took place in Portugal, is underway and there are four finalists: Bourges, Clermont-Ferrand, Montpellier and Rouen.

A Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony will be held tomorrow, 14 April, at 10am, at Palácio D. Manuel, in Évora, as part of the State Visit of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Latvia to Portugal.

Research carried out by a team from the University of Évora aims to assess the community's expectations regarding the role of culture in Alentejo's future.
