In the silence of times, Évora has built a future, even without knowing it.

For four days, from April 9 to 12, Évora transforms into a space of listening and discovery through workshops, concerts, a recital, a community opera, performances, and other artistic proposals, exploring the relationship between music, the territory, and the soundscape.

An invitation to reflect on happiness in contemporary society, “Gatilho da Felicidade,” by Ana Borralho and João Galante, will be presented in May in Évora. The protagonists will be 12 young people aged between 18 and 23. Applications to participate are open until 21 April.

The project “Our Voice”, aimed at educational institutions across the 14 municipalities of Central Alentejo and coordinated by Madalena Victorino, seeks to integrate artist-mediators with experience in artistic practices within school contexts. Applications are open until April 8.

The session will feature Carlos Zorrinho, President of the City Council of Évora; Maria do Céu Ramos, President of Associação Évora 2027; José Rui Felizardo, CEO of CEiiA; Martim Sousa Tavares, conductor and cultural communicator; moderated by Jaime Quesado, from Sharing Knowledge. A public debate will follow.

The program is aimed at cultural agents based in Alentejo — artists, cultural organizations, technicians, and other professionals in the sector — promoting their cohesion and coordination.

On 6 February, Évora_27 begins the countdown of 365 days until the official opening of the European Capital of Culture. From morning to night, we celebrate this symbolic date with a full day of free programming dedicated to Vagar and the launch of the public petition to establish the National Day of Vagar.

Until March 22, artists and cultural agents from across the country can apply with projects from all artistic fields.

Created as a new space for reflection, dialogue, and building the future, the Academia do Vagar will take place monthly until December 2027 through a continuous program of international conferences, meetings, talks, and workshops.

The project is a co-production between the University of Évora, Projecto DME, and Associação Lisboa Incomum, under the artistic direction of Ana Telles.
