Évora 2027 Association General Assembly appoints directors

António Costa da Silva and Bruno Fraga Braz have been appointed to the Finance Department and the Communication and Outreach Department of the organisation. Maria do Céu Ramos will preside over the board, which will be completed with the appointment of the Executive Director and the Artistic Director.

At its General Assembly meeting on the afternoon of 7th October, the Évora 2027 Association appointed two board members through a majority vote. António Costa da Silva, an economist and the current deputy president of the Alentejo Regional Tourism Promotion Agency (ARPTA), will take charge of the Finance Department. Bruno Fraga Braz, a communications consultant and current advisor in the same area at the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation (Évora), will lead the Communications and Outreach Department.

Maria do Céu Ramos will be President of the Board of the Évora 2027 Association. Her appointment, on a service commission basis, will be implemented by a joint order to be issued by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Évora. The lawyer, who is currently Secretary General of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation and President of the Portuguese Association of Foundations, was a member of the Évora 2027 Executive Committee, the organisation led by the Municipality of Évora that promoted Évora's and the Alentejo's bid to be European Capital of Culture. Maria do Céu Ramos will take office after assuming her post on a date that will be announced soon; her term will be for five years, with the possibility of an additional year's extension,  according to the Association's statutes.

Established in February 2024, the Évora 2027 Association aims to ensure the execution of the intangible aspects of Évora_27 European Capital of Culture. This includes planning, operationalisation, monitoring, and legacy, in line with the proposals outlined in the bid book. Following Évora's designation as European Capital of Culture, the bid book became the effective contract between the city and its citizens, on the one hand, and the European Commission and the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, on the other; this was further supported by the panel of experts who evaluated the applications from Portuguese cities and chose Évora.
