Évora 2027 presents its image, promotional film and musical identity

Emphasizing time, space and humanity. This is the campaign’s message, designed to portray Evora's various dimensions that fit into the city's candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2027.

Évora 2027 - Candidate City for European Capital of Culture presents new candidacy image, promotional film and musical identity. Three objects anchored in the main axes - immaterialism, cultural heritage and biodiversity. -  that underlie Évora 2027's proposal which will be submitted on 23 November for evaluation by an international jury.

As for the graphic identity, "the utmost elegance of being simple" (Eugénio de Andrade) and the "intangibility preserved by people from the Alentejo" (Miguel Torga) are two brief descriptions that inspired the creative process of communication design studio R2. The work conveys an idea of simplicity and sobriety of shapes, lines and colors, once again combining with these perceptions the spirit of the application. The identity proposes a visual narrative consisting of a logo that allows for several appropriations and animations, but also rescues the combination of bright colors with textures and graphic elements, both figurative and abstract, taken from traditional materials.

Messages such as "reach further, see closer" and "take our vagar to everyone, for everyone needs it unwittingly" are uttered by the voice narrating the promo film produced by Playground and directed by Rui Vieira. The movie shows that from this "stage-territory" one can dream of a future built on coexistence and sharing, and thus of a Europe more inspired by Évora and the Alentejo.

Another news is the piece created by four musicians from Évora – The Shepherd’s Sky, which embodies Évora 2027’s music identity. According to the authors, it was "a beautiful process, mede up of listening, looking inwards, with eyes shut and feet lifted off the ground. A path of reencounter with [our] Alentejo and of collective discovery”. The Shepherd’s Sky is by António Bexiga (aka Tó-Zé Bexiga), António Pinto de Sousa, Mestre André and Dj Sims, with the collaboration of "Vozes do Imaginário", directed by Luís Pereira. Mixing and mastering by Luís Lucena. Available for listening early September and on the digital channels of Évora 2027.
